Falmouth

September 24th 1870

My dear Mr Talbot,

I must have the house clear to myself from Monday Sept: 26th for the remainder of the month, on October 1st I shall sign my resignation so that if Mr Roach is to be the new Vicar he cannot of course take possession of the house till October 1st – It is the churchwardens business to provide for the services being duly performed until the new Vicar has been inducted; Mr Roach will have no right to minister in the church until he has been inducted, save at the request of the churchwardens. I shall write to Messrs Fry & <illeg>, churchwardens, to inform them of my resignation & of it being their duty to provide for the due conduct of the services.

Yours truly

Edward P. Nicholl
