My dear Henry,
Your congratulations on Iltids Marriage have gratified me excessively It is so comforting to find that being separated for such a number of years as we have been, has not damped your kind & affectionate feelings towards me & mine.
I trust from all I hear that Iltid has chosen one who will be an agreeable addition to our family, & at the same time a good wife for him – She is I hear pretty & most amiable; Caroline gives me a pleasant description of her which assures me that I shall be pleased when I am acquainted, Capt Jerningham is a good officer, & a true Gentleman & his profession is one that I have reason to think well of & which always gives a certain character to the whole family.
We are going to Torquay for two Months next week. do [sic] not you think you could pay us a visit there when you come so far West as Melbury?
