Merthyr Mawr

Febry 9th

My dear Cousin

My Mother feels that few will feel more than you will the sad news of the death of my dear Aunt Mary she went up to London with Aunt Charlotte last Monday & yesterday she breathed her last – a slight hurt to her foot increased by not taking care of it & then the long journey from Penrice to London brought on Erysepalis & Inflamation from against which she had not strength to rally it is a sad blow to us all & we were almost unprepared for the sad termination my dear Mother feels it so very much & she was unable to go & nurse her being herself laid up with a bad attack of Influenza it is a sad trial not having her with her Aunt Emma & Christine were fortunately in London & helped Aunt Charlotte in nursing & Aunt Bella & Theresa went up this morning so they will be of some comfort. my Uncle & Edward are also in London

Yours affecately

Lucy M Nicholl
