My dear Sir
You are quite right about makasid, and I can only wish you had been at my elbow, when I was writing that page containing such a stupid blunder, when in p 712 I had quoted correctly a passage perfectly parallel. I am much obliged to you for pointing this out. It is an unpleasant evidence of gradual loss of memory; I have reason to be surprised at your penetration in discovering the error in a form so concealed.
These things sometimes make me regret having undertaken a task somewhat above my powers; but I am consoled in the hopes of having collected a lot of material which will be a help to some future worker, whose labours will be lessened by what I have attempted. I am fully convinced that another generation will give the world as good a picture of the Assyrian language as we have now of the Hebrew.
Yours very faithfully
Edwin Norris
