Dear Sir,
The usual course with us is to present papers to the council, as a previous measure, and not taking them before the meeting until they are to be read: they are not then always noticed in the Athenæum <1> which treats our papers very cavalierly. We have two or three papers in hand for reading, but I hope to get yours <2> before the meeting in the course of next month.
I have not heard yet from Rawlinson. <3> We are waiting for his Table of Contents, to be prefixed to the Inscriptions. He had written nearly the whole of such Table before his departure with some notice of the finding and <tenour?> of each inscription; and he promised to complete it on the journey if possible, and send it on his arrival. I shall print it as soon as I get it, and then, of course, the Trustees will publish.
Yours very truly
Edwin Norris
