Sir/
I have been a good deal puzzled with your pretty little Monocot. I shd like to know what sort of a root it has.
It is apparently very near some Cape forms of Hypoxis, <1> – though as you remark it much resembles Barbacenia.
Shd you find it convenient to being a plant up to town with you next visit I shall be glad to examine it more thoroughly than I can well do in crushed specimens.
The Herbarium is the large building to the right just before reaching the principal Gates of the R. Gardens in Kew Green.
There I am to be found most of the day
I remain Sir
very truly yours
