Dr Sir
I am favoured with your letter, mentioning that the Trustees of the British Museum have done me the honour to present me with a Copy of the new volume of inscriptions, for which I beg them to receive my best acknowledgements.
I request that it may be sent by the great northern railway to Edinburgh and addressed "to be left at Gogar station."-
It would be an additional favour if you could spare me a copy of the first volume of inscriptions which the Museum published some years ago. <1>
I remain Dr Sir Yours faithfully
H. F. Talbot
Notes:
1. The minutes of the Trustees meeting of 27 July recorded that they "Read a letter from Mr. H. Fox Talbot thanking the Trustees for their present of a copy of the 'Cuneiform Inscriptions of Western Asia' recently published; and requesting that a copy of the Cuneiform Inscriptions published by the Trustees in 1851 might also be presented to him. The Trustees acceded too this request."
