Ora che so dove è mi faccio premura di mandarci alcune piante ch’io stesso ho raccolte e che ho colla maggior cura possibile essicate. La loro bella forma, colore e bizzaria mi ci indusero e più ancora perché non ne ho mai veduta una finanche nella sua stessa raccolta ed in alcuno dei suoi libri botanici almeno per quello io mi ricordo. Aggradisca se lo merita questo attestato benché piccolissimo della mia memoria e gratitudine e professando i miei ossequiosi doveri a Milady, al Sig. My Most Esteemed Lord

Now that I know where you are I hasten to send you some plants which I myself collected and which I dried with the utmost care. Their beautiful form, colour and strangeness led me to do so and yet more because I had never seen them even in your own collection or in any of your books on botany at least as far as I can recall. Accept, should it merit it, this testimony, however small, of my recollection and gratitude and offering my respectful regards to Milady, to the Captain as well as to your good lady sister, I am honoured to be
