I am directed by Viscount Melbourne <1> to acknowledge the receipt of your letter <2> of the 4 Instant, with its enclosure, in favor of John Callis, who was Convicted of Larceny at the last Assizes for the County of Wilts and Sentenced to Seven Years Transportation: – and I am to acquaint you, that under all the circumstances of the Case, his Lordship has felt himself warranted in giving orders for the removal of the Prisoner to the General Penitentiary for Confinement for a limited period, instead of being Transported. –
