Dear Sir,
As special commissioner for the Department of Juries in the Inter-national Exhibition of 1862, I am at present engaged in framing the list of Jurors for the separate classes.
Finding that you are recommended by a considerable number of Exhibitors to be a Juror in Class 14 (Photography & Photographic <A---tion>) I request your permission to be allowed to place you on the Jury of that Class. The work, which is honorary, will occupy about a month – in May & June, and from the number of persons who have already accepted the office, it is cer-tain that the list of British Jurors will consist of the most distinguished men in Industry & Science, will worthy of cooperating with the many Eminent persons sent by Foreign Nations.
A reply at your Earliest convenience will much oblige me
I am,
Dear Sir
Yrs Sincerely
Lyon Playfair
