Marble & Stone Works,

Gt Smith Street,

Westminster, S. W.

Novr 18th 1865

Sir

We beg to enclose a rough draft of the Inscription We have made the letters as large as it is possible – but we think if they are slightly reduced in size – they would look less crowded and better grouped

You will perceive that we have omitted “aged 72 years“ because it will require a separate line – and will make necessary a further reduction in the size of the letters – and as the words are not absolutely essential, we have thought you would not object to their omission – but they can be restored if you still prefer it

The Monument is in a forward state – the Trusses are carved – the Tablet is ready for the Inscription and the back ground is being carved and will be ready in a few days

We have the honour to be Sir Your mo obedt Servts

Henry Poole & Son

H. F. Talbot Esq

Please to correct the punctuation as well as any other parts that need it
