Dear Sir,
On receipt of your letter of yesterday, I went to see the copy of Botta’s great work at Quaritch’s, and found that it is quite new or unused, half bound in purple morocco, and warranted complete. Mr Quaritch has consented to wait till the next meeting of Council. This will be on the 8th March. The work I saw as being in five volumes folio, one being [illegible] two inscriptions, and two plates, if I recollect rightly.
As there is some time from this to the 8th March, would you like me to communicate your purpose to Sir H. Rawlinson, and ask him to examine the work beforehand. If so, perhaps you will kindly let me know.
I remain, dear Sir, faithfully yours,
J. W. Redhouse
