Royal Asiatic Society,

5, New Burlington Street, W.,

London,

9th Septr 1861.

Dear Sir,

I have arranged with our printer for you to have your private copies as soon as set up and corrected. The three articles will most likely appear in part 2, in succession; so that when bound up, the four articles will be all together. The Nakshi-Rustem will probably appear in part 3.

I am very glad you are pleased with the arrangement I promised in my former note to try and make, and which I now give as settled.

You will recollect, perhaps, a conversation we had when I first had the pleasure of seeing you, respecting the work of Botta on his explorations and respecting Oppert’s work. I was authorized by the Council to apply in the name of the Society to the French Government for these two works. – Could you kindly favour me with the correct french <sic> names of the two works, so that no mistake may occur on the subject, as I wish to write forthwith, though much hope is not entertained here that the application will be successful.

Believe me, dear Sir, Faithfully yours,

J W Redhouse

H. F. Talbot, Esqre
