My Dear Ld Rosse
Sir C. Eastlake <1> has signed the enclosed letter <2> to me, and we hope that it will meet with your approval, and that you will affix your signature to it, in which case I will, as already agreed, reply to you by requesting that the patent may be henceforth considered public property, with the reservation of the single point before mentioned, and I will then give publicity to the Correspondence or request you to do so – But if there is anything in the letter which You think requires alteration, I had better come up to Town to save time and speak to you about it.
Believe me to remain
Dear Ld Rosse Yours very Truly
H. F. Talbot
P.S. I shall be happy at any time when in Town to accompany you to the B. Museum and give any assistance in my power in photographing the Nineveh marbles. As to your conversation with Brewster <3> about the medal, <4> I was very glad to have an opportunity of rectifying the misconception which appears to have prevailed respecting it – And I ought to add that in mentioning Brewster’s name in connexion with this subject, I did so at his own particular desire he having been under the same misapprehension about the medal.<draft>
