Fox Talbot Esq
of Lacock Abbey
Sir
The very flattering letter you did us the honour to send at the opening of the International Exhibition we have unfortunately mislaid or lost which we are sorry for because in our opinion the “Jury” has not done us justice in the “Awards” of Merit –
Sir David Brewster has written to Mr Claudet who kindly consents to reconsider the matter what we therefore write to you is <sic> to ask if you would do us the great kindness to strengthen Sir David Brewster’s position by writing to Mr Claudet the same opinion as you sent us for we realy <sic> think we should have got a medal for instantaneus <sic> pictures of children
We are
with the highest respect
Your most obedient servants
Ross & Thomson
