1833.

Dear Sir

Considering you in the light of those who take an interest in the town of Chippenham, <1> I have taken the liberty of laying before you the list of the Charities wh come immediately under my direction. Our National School has usually received some support from the Members.

The Ladies who conduct the Lying in Charity will probably make an application to Mrs Talbot <2> for her support. And thirdly I should feel obliged to you to lend us your assistance in bringing into greater efficiency the “District Visiting society,” <3> which, though established two years, has not received the support wh I believe it deserves. Mr Neeld <4> has kindly consented to come in on any day next week wh shall be most agreeable to all parties.

I find that Friday will be the most convenient to some of this place. Will that day suit you? & at twelve oclock. If any other day or time wd be more agreeable to you we cd probably make the arrangment [sic] equally well

I remain Dear Sir Yours truly
W. Short.

H. Fox Talbot Esqr
MP – &c –
Lacock Abbey.
