[printed notepaper:] July 21, 1863 Dear Sir, I was extremely glad to hear by your’s [sic] of yesterday, of the two new Guajara plates which you have kindly made: sorry only to think of the many anomalous difficulties [you] have had to contend with in this case. I have been to day to Banks’, but he himself was out & the assistant could not find the proofs. I shall write again on seeing them, & meanwhile remain with thanks Yours very truly [envelope:]
