Sir/

I have much satisfaction in replying to your enquiries respecting Thomas Cooper he performed the office of Butler in my establishment for nearly two years during which time he conducted himself with the greatest integrity & sobriety. The only cause for his leaving me was my not considering him quite equal to the Superintendance of so very large a family as mine is

I feel convinced into whose-ever Service he enters he will merit their good opinion the numerous excellent qualities he possesses must gain the approbation of his employers

I have the honor to be Sir Yr obedt Servant
A H Steward
