Tuesday March 1st

My dear Henry,

All proceeds well in the Nursery – Your little Son <1> has taken advantage of the weather being unusually mild today to change the air – Mrs Havergal <2> carried him up & down the Stone Gallery several times – & on meeting them there, I invited them into the Library & South Gallery where the Sun was shining brightly & the rooms were warm & pleasant. –

I have just had a visit from Mrs Awdry of Wraxhall <3> who has been staying at Notton <4> a few days – She came for the little boy’s christening which took place on Sunday last. – I had great pleasure in seeing her again after such a long interval – I gave her a few flower seeds & some young plants of the Saponaria that was so beautiful in my garden last year – Her daughters are preparing to go through their disagreeable duty at the Assizes <5>– and will be heartily glad when it is all over –

Your affte
Constance –

I hope you contrive to walk out a little when the weather permits. – If there is nothing new to say tomorrow I think I shall not write.
