I have received a letter from you each day – and am glad that you had a pleasant weather for Kew gardens – and that your new & curious plant was duly appreciated by the Authorities – Our rain has come one day later than yours – for yesterday was quite fair with us though the sky was clouded – today on the contrary, we have heavy rain with scarce any intermission; and your daughters would not go to Bath for some shopping that is required. – They must take tomorrow instead, if favorable; therefore, if I get an order from you by Post to say you want the Pony carriage to meet your train, and if on reaching Chippenham, you should find no Pony carriage – please to excuse the omission, and come home in a Fly. – I was glad it was fair yesterday on account of the Ploughing match. Charles presided at the dinner – and told us (on coming home to tea) that he had got through the duties satisfactorily to himself.

I think you were quite right to acquaint M^rs Traherne with our disappointment about Lady Ilchester. – If you should stay till Saturday morning in London without letting us know, we shall suppose that all is right – as we are too far to be telegraphed to without necessity –
