My Dear Constance
I was very much distressed on reading your account of poor Mackenzie’s illness – I am very glad that John was at home, when his advice was so much needed, and glad also that Tillie’s deafness was gone, as that would have been a tiresome complication of troubles. I suppose you will get this letter on Monday morning I hope to reach Bowchurch in time for dinner on Monday. The weather today is very splendid. Gale thinks nothing need be done at present to Ela’s window and he thinks that it has not moved for years. A wooden rod employed for the purpose last year, shows no alteration. We are to have our Telegraph opened some time in April. – I expect that the Government Telegraphs after a little while (but not at first) will be very good and cheap. It was marvellous that the housemaid shd come from Dabton in 24 hours after being summoned.
Your affte
Henry
