My Dear Constance

I wrote to you yesterday mentioning my interview with the Bishop. I hope to return home tomorrow, some hours before dinner time. I called on Caroline this morning – She read me several very interesting letters from Charlie. He is now in New Zealand, on his way home. During his passage from Australia to New Zealand he encountered a violent Cyclone storm, fortunately they were then far from land else they would have been in great peril of shipwreck as the wind kept shifting through all the points of the compass, and they were completely at its mercy. His route homewards will be by the Sandwich Islands San Francisco California, & the Pacific Railroad from thence to New York which last city is the only address he can give. He is not going to make any stay in the United States because he says he can see them “any day”, but the opportunity of seeing New Zealand in company with the friendly governor who is about to make a tour, was not to be neglected!

Harriet has got a house with a nice look out upon the Park, and a superb crimson Rhododendron stands in the Park just in front of her windows. We have splendid weather in London today. Ela was quite right in telling us what she had heard respecting Dr Ace altho’ fortunately all danger of having him is past.

Your affly

Henry
