My dear Henry
The enclosed does not quite agree with my own calculation as per Cheques drawn up to Dec 31. my statement shows balance £33.18.11. As I believe the North Wilts Banking C. never pay Interest on Current Accounts, I cannot assign that as a reason for having 15/7 more than I thought.
Perhaps it will be best to get my Pass Book forwarded by Post to Melksham, and made up, in order to ascertain where the error lies. Perhaps I may have made the mistake myself. On the 4th January, I drew the last cheque to myself, £33.10.0 believing that I then left a balance in my favor of 8/11 Charles has the key of my drawer, and can look out my Pass Book if you wish it sent to the Bank. Charles tells me that you do not intend returning here before Sat. week, the 10th Feb. therefore I think something should be settled about Alfreds Livery He ought scarcely to wait so long as he seems to suit us very well. and Geo might make sure that Alfred himself likes his place & means to keep it
You have quite explained about Dr Maidstone Smith He did the thing awkwardly. so that you never understood that he meant to shew you marked attention by calling when he heard of your coming to Bath. When I go to pay a visit to Mrs Smith, I will leave your cards
Your affectionate
Constance
Wilkins sent us some nice pots of bulbs, Saturday among them 2 varieties of single Van Tholl T. very pretty. I hope you have settled the bill of our friend Ant. Rouzen for the said Bulbs? You have the address of his correspondent in London, on the bill . I mean the agent who receives payment, for him, in London.
