My dear Henry
I send you by Wilkins some Patterns of Cloths &c for your approval & choice from a Tailor in Cheap Street, recommended by Hellard as the best for you can employ for the Livery suit &c Lord is considered more expensive and not the right Tailor for this sort of thing. Alfreds measure has been taken at Titleys; but nothing can be commenced until you decide upon the orders He advises a dark dark Livery as more generally adopted than the drab which soils too quickly. I incline for this pattern but if whichever you think proper to decide on will entail on you the consideration of a waistcoat to set it off to advantage. I would advise you to refer the whole matter to Geo. and if you are really coming back here on Saturday, perhaps the order could wait till then. Otherwise would it not be better to send Geo over some morning to speak to the Tailor and give the necessary orders?
The Great Coat patterns I observe are only two. What a substance in the material! Monie & I had a pleasant drive yesterday to Bathampton House and found Mrs Maidstone Smith at home. We left your Card for Dr Smith.
Your affectionate
Constance
I did not like to keep Wilkins waiting for this note: but it ought by rights to have accompanied the parcel of patterns.
Titley was asked to show some Drawings of Liveries, but he did not produce any
