Lacock Abbey,

Chippenham.

Tuesday March 26

My Dear Constance

The weather was cheerful sunny and very cold on my journey. Wilkins complains of 10 degrees of frost last night

The Pyrus Japonica is very gay against the trellis.

The best thing in the stove is the Littonia modesta which has grown to twice its former size.

The beautiful primula Cortusoides lived through the winter in a chink of the wall and is now in Flower, evidently therefore it should be planted abundantly on rockwork. I gave Monies letter to Charles.

Your affte

Henry
