My Dear Constance

I am very glad to hear you had a fine day for your move to Lacock.

In Scotland it rained heavily all that day The weather has now cleared, but is cloudy without sun. all the vegetable world seems to approve of the rainy season, and is very fresh and luxuriant.

The little wood through which the burn suns is full of Polypodium Dryophteris a fern of the most delicate trader green. I never saw it before in its young state in spring, the effect of great masses of it is very pleasing. Do not forward any more letters as I leave here on Monday.

Matilda will have written word of the Great success of Ela’s mug which is really very pretty –

I wrote an account of the Children to one of you I think it was Monie, they are all very engaging & happy and flourishing Willie is reading the history of Greece which amuses him very much. I think the book was written by Miss Sewell whom you knew in the isle of Wight

Connie is very fond of De <calco manie?>, which is really a pretty invention and the rose in this letter is her handywork, as likewise the Envelope –

Your affte

Henry
