Kildare
Monday morning
My dear Henry
I have just received your letter, which (had yesterday been other than Sunday) would have been delivered yesterday at 2½ P.M.
I am very glad that you are proposing to come to see us – and we can give you a very nice room in this house. It is one comprised in the apartment & which Charles would have occupied, had he not preferred to remain at the Lansdowne Hotel.
I send these few lines by first Post, in case you propose starting tomorrow – We shall require no further notice: unless you like to send a telegram en route after you have really started – because it would be nicer to have some dinner ready for you – and in lodgings you must understand that we don’t expect to get things just at a moment’s notice – I think we shall be able to make you very comfortable. Weather here is much cooler since those thunderstorms – Will you please bring with you the black Opera glass which I left behind by mistake – It will be found I think on the writing-table in the Library –
I hope you will have a pleasant journey – shall you sleep at Salisbury – or come through?
Your affectionate
Constance
