4 Circus – Tuesday
My dear Henry
We sent you on Saturday a piece of most excellent Stilton Cheese – Charles expresses himself to be unappreciative of the same – but I hope that you will like it – and it is always a useful thing to fall back upon; and helps to supply the deficiency of a small or unsatisfactory dinner – Please to taste it at least before you reject it – and charge Gee to be careful that it neither becomes too dry nor turns mouldy.
I expect Charles today – but am writing this too early in the day to verify my prediction. It is so fine that I am going to drive to Entryhill to call on Mrs Menteath – and we will return [illegible]the newspapers which Mr Menteath lent you.
½ past 5. I must just finish this for the Post. I saw nobody at Entryhill – but have had a succession of visitors since I came home – found Charles in the Drawing room chatting with Monie – He says that Lacock is feeling cold just now, which I can well suppose. – So you must be carefull.
Your affectionate
Constance
Rd says she wrote you a long letter since her return from London: did you get it?
I am ashamed of my writing but have a weak wrist today.
How do you like the Lift? –
A Parcel is come from the Book-binder Chivers – Are we to send it by Carrier on Saturday?–
