Saturday Feby 1st

My dear Henry

I have ordered some Twists & Beckfords to be sent to you today – These 2 little packets of gelatine I think are similar to what you had before, – and (if the right thing) we can send you more whenever you wish – You will observe the instructions are to keep the Packets dry while in store, that is until wanted for use –

I opened your Parcel from Chivers to look at the Bindings as well as to repack the additional papers. – The Persian gospel doesn’t appear to open well – it has not an open back; which I believe one ought always to specify to the Binder –

Please tell Charles that there is also a small parcel for him, from Ed. Noke. left the day he returned to Lacock – and having no instructions we send it by Knott. – Tell him please that I have received Phelps’s receipt, also the Beer receipt.

I see by today’s Daily News that the Steamer Murillo is discovered to be the ship that ran down the unfortunate Northfleet – and that they have caught her at last.

It is a tale of greater wickedness than one could have thought possible – bad as the world is! –

Your affectionate

Constance

A cold East wind – very unpleasant but perhaps good for the country.
