4 Circus – Sunday
My dear Henry
I have made out about the Poor Rate & City Rate; as Monie had the former half year’s receipts in her charge – They are the same for which you desired me to draw a cheque on Stuckey’s Bank the 19th of March/73 (last month) for arrears, being the first half of the year 1872-73. The said rates date from 26th & 29th Oct. 1872. Now the 2d half being due the collector calls again – the said rates being made payable in advance. Shall I settle them as before? tell me what you wish –
I am thankful that the weather has changed & the frost is gone for this time. I hope we may have no return of it – for lilacs & everything are waiting to burst into bloom – Excuse such a scrawl. Pussy insists on curling herself round on my lap, and I don’t find it easy to carry out Mrs Damer’s plan of resting my paper on her back, the as Mrs Damer did when nursing her favorite lap-dog.
Your affectionate
Constance
