Lacock Tuesday

15 April

My Dear Constance

I had to wait some time at the Station owing to the Easter holidays;

I was just going to read a few chapters of Job, as being highly appropriate when the bell rang & the train hove in sight.

I have planted the Veronica in a border in the middle garden –

There is a most beautiful Tropæolum <Smithii?> in the Conservatory, it is the finest plant we ever rais’d of the kind – I never saw it in any other garden.

This year we have got the true Tropæolum <azureum?> from Barr in London. Last year the Dutchman cheated us.

I expect the flowers to be pale blue.

Adieu

Your affte

Henry
