Lacock Abbey.
Thursday
My dear Henry
We have received all your letters – namely 4 – the first (which I answered) yesterday morning – the others by day post (per Jones) – We shall expect you Saturday, but of course you will write a line to appoint the hour for the carriage to meet you.
The weather has been splendid each day. Mr Fowler had ample time for seeing the place after prescribing for his Patient. He lunched with us before starting on his return, and was altogether delighted. It has been a satisfaction to get him over to consult with Mr Crisp <1> – and though they agreed on most points, I hope that some minor suggestions of Mr Fowler’s may be found useful. – It appears that Eczema must have its course, and perhaps also it is scarcely understood, I mean as regards the cause – At all events (though not alarming it is very troublesome & annoying –
It seems almost a pity that you don’t stay a little longer to enjoy the British Museum &c &c. now that you so rarely go up to London? – and we could have kept the Michaelmas Goose for your return still a few days – No tidings of Charles <2> since you left – and no letters to forward for you.
Your affectionate
Constance
