4 Circus <1>
Saturday
My dear Henry
I write this for despatch by 2d day mail – (which I therefore expect you will receive this Evening) to tell you that Mrs Traherne’s <2> large parcel of manuscripts arrived late yesterday evening – In acknowledging the receipt thereof, you must please tell her that the single <illegible deletion> wrap of thin brown paper in which the letters &c &c were tyed tied up, was very much torn; and if some of the contents should be missing when returned to her, she will know that they must have dropped out in coming – but if she has a list of the papers sent, we could examine, and ascertain at once whether all are safe. We are surprised that anyone shd have made up a parcel so insecurely – I hope you got my two letters <3> yesterday – I will keep this open until after 1 O’Clock dinner, in case of hearing from you, or of anything requiring an answer.
Your affectionate
Constance
P.S. Thanks for your very interesting letter just received. We read it while at dinner.Notes:
