Friday March 5th
My dear Henry
We are going to send you the Daily Telegraph of yesterday – which contains a very interesting letter from Mr Smith <2> to the Editor. – He has deciphered a detailed act of the Creation and Fall on one of the Tablets which formed part of the collection which the D. Telegraph presented to the British Museum – The conclusion to be drawn from this discovery must be considered very important. Tell us what you think of its bearing on Biblical History.
You will see Charles <3> tomorrow – he tells me he is going over to bring away some things – I am writing a line to Cox, to inform him that he will have to look out for a footman, in Alfred’s place – who gave warning yesterday – It was extremely inconsiderate to take the opportunity of leaving when he had only just had a new suit of Clothes: But they all act in this way – He said it was quite unintentional – but that he thought of changing by the advice of his friends –
I enclose a little account of Pearson’s who is giving up business – If it is correct, you can please send it back & I will pay it for you.
We have a nice bright day today – a great improvement – Perhaps we are to have Spring at last. Your last letter was very pleasant – we feared you might be suffering from the cold.
Your affectionate
Constance
Tilly assured us that her new governess, Miss Bryndum, does speak both English & french well. The little girls had been very shy of her at first, but were beginning to take to her kindly –Notes:
