Whorlton
Jan 7th Tuesday evening
My dear Father.
I was very much interested by your letter received yesterday about the Seend iron mines for it seems to me that if Wiltshire gets a good reputation for iron-ore you may not be likely be able to get yours worked. (I dont like this pen at all) The villa at North Wraxall must be very interesting and my first wish was that Mr Headlam <1> had adopted hypocausts, for I found the house very cold. Will you be so kind as to tell my Mother <2> that Homer and Livy have turned up here which two books I thought I had left at Lacock. I found a cover of snow here on my arrival and it has been snowing today too but has melted again. The Tees was very fine yesterday.
I send you the acct.
Your affectionate son
Charles Talbot
