My dear Papa

I walked the other day to the Nursery garden on the Weston road which you thought of visiting – there is but little in flower there at present – but I discovered two small plants of Sparmannia Africana in flower in the Show house. They are well flowered and nice plants price about 2/ or 1/6d the plant. Would you like to have one or have you got it already at Lacock – I suppose it would not live out of doors in England ; at San Remo it was one of the ornaments of our garden and grew into to the size of large handsome shrubs

If you should see Wilkins before he packs the plants tomorrow, you might ask him to send us a few more things than he did last time, as we had hardly enough to fill our stand – he might lift some of the bulbs I plunged in pots in our old garden if there are any coming into flower – and if he is short of other things.

Cold wind today but fine Mamma has had a bad cold but is certainly better today – Nothing here seems to have been injured by the frost of last week. I hope you have been equally fortunate at Lacock. There is, I think, nothing to add – so will wish good-bye.

Ela

How soon do you return here? Charles will be glad to hear that Mr Menteath has brought back Colenso’s Sermons and Bible Comenry critically examined.

Mamma wishes to know if you would like any bread from Bath sent to you on Saturday (perhaps if you do, you would write a line to say so –) but she supposes and hopes that you have ordered the Chippenham bread which she recommended and which you used to like.
