My dear Papa,

I have not written to thank you yet for the plants you sent me – and which I am very glad to have – When unpacked, they looked a little unhappy, but were recovering with water & being kept in the shade – & I hope when you come here, you will find them all in a flourishing condition The gardener is very busy bedding out – does it not seem very late to begin planting things in June! but last year they were killed by the frost so late, that everybody had been afraid to put their things out sooner. – Ela & I have just returned from a drive to Closeburn – the woods are looking lovely just now with blue bells, & quantities of other flowers We found a small plant which I did not know before – Stellaria <Memorium?> We have looked it up in the book – the appearance of it growing in masses is quite different from that of the other Stellaria – Willie & Mimai went with us – Willie has not been well lately – I think all the damp we had, did not agree with him – but I am glad to say he is better again now. We are going to Carruchan on Saturday for Whit Sunday. and intend to leave him there on a visit to his Aunt for a little change which I think will do him good. We shall be very glad to hear that you have been able to arrange something satisfactory about Lacock – but I suppose it will take some little time to get it finally settled. I hope you will end by getting a man that you like – but what an unlooked for trouble it has been! I hope Mama does not feel solitary without Ela – I suppose Charles will come backwards & forwards to you often –

With love from all here, I am

Your most affecte daughter

Tilly
