My dear Papa

John promised to write to you last night to say that we are delighted to hear that you are really coming to us tomorrow – & that we shall send to meet you in Dumfries – I got your letter on our return from paying a visit in Wigtonshire – Remember that we have plenty of room for your man – the children are looking forward with great delight to seeing Grand papa –

There is no prospect of our going south now till the first week in June – so I hope you will arrange to stay here a week at least –
