My dear Papa,

I have already put off too long writing to thank you for the three engravings you sent me, and which I think are by far the best which I have yet seen – They are so very equal in every part. I am very glad indeed to have them. They came with Ela, the day she arrived It made quite a lively party, when Mama & Monie arrived too, next day. it only wanted Charles & you to make it complete, but I am glad to hear through Mama that you are thinking of stopping here on your road to Edinburgh whenever you come – I hope you wont put off till the weather gets too cold & wintry! Monie is still here, keeping me company, but she is talking of going to join the others soon. I have been very glad to have her the last day or two, for else I should have been quite alone. Johnnie having gone to Edinburgh for a day or two, on business. Our weather has been wild & stormy lately. Yesterday there was such a bleak cold fog, that nobody ventured to stir out. This morning was very wet, but the day has been fine & bracing. I wonder if the meteors had any thing to do with the weather? I was so much disappointed about them, as the night they appeared was very favourable & bright here, but we had not happened to have observed in the newspaper that they were expected, so did not look out and it is a thing I have always had such a wish to see! When you come, I do not expect you will know the children again, they are all so much grown: but I am sure they will be quite delighted to see Grandpapa. Baby is very sociably inclined. They send their love, & I am

your most affecte daughter

Tilly
