My dear Papa,

I was quite delighted, and so was John, with the exceedingly pretty coloured Photographs of flowers which you sent me, – it is too difficult to decide between their merits, but I think on the whole I prefer the Azelia – This also very kind indeed of you to have brought me the carved things you mention, and I feel quite curious to see them. We shall he very glad indeed to see you here, as soon as we return from Derbyshire, if that would suit you; after that we mean to go to Edinburgh for a little while, where John has some business – & I want to go before the cold weather, in order to get Winter things for the children. Now I hope, from a letter which I got from Aunt Harriet yesterday, that we are to see you at Markeaton she said she had written to ask you to come – and if you do so – could we not arrange to return here together? That would do so nicely. John is in Edinburgh today – he returns tomorrow, and will I hope bring Pussy back with him – I wrote to Gray, on receipt of yours, to tell her to have it in readyness. – & we can keep her here, till you come, and send her home to Lacock with you when you return, if you like it – I got a letter from Rosamond today – I will write tomorrow after Pussy comes – & tell her about it – It seems they have had no letters from me lately – though I wrote twice to Geneva (they got one of these) & Avignon –

Emily Mundy sprained her foot in the Highlands, which laid her up there for some weeks, prevented them from coming here at all – Aunt H. says she still goes about with a stick –

Good by dear Papa, love from all the chicks, who are busy just now making a turnip lanthorn to keep Halloween!

Your affecte daughter
Tilly

Love to Charles – Please thank him for his letter –
