My dear Henry
We have just been packing up the plants for you that we were to send. with the exception of the Solamon jasminoides which I find dies in the pot, tho’ the one against the house is flourishing, we can there raise some cuttings when the Spring comes & I shall be glad to save one for you at some future time if I am not reckoning my Chickens before they are hatched! – I hope the little Campanela from the Hill will grow we dug it up carefully & it carries some soil with it.
We have been quite horrified by hearing of the robbery at Lacock! it will make all the family timid I fear, if it is true that the man was in the house all the evening he must have been hid some where! Do tell me all about it. –
We have very mild & damp weather now which is not healthy but I do not hear of any sickness in this neighbourhood, Chrisr & the Childn are gone to Penrice, we are to go soon but at present we have a housefull to take charge of. Isabella’s two big Girls & Charles, besides Rice Nicholl (& Edward is coming too!) We have still very sad accounts from Mr Franklen of poor Harry at Haslar Hospital, he is however free from pain & in good spirits, moving him is quite impossible so now Isabella is gone to see him & will remain there most probably. –
I am your affate
Coz Mary
