My dear Henry

If you can give us any account of Ld Mt Edgecumbe I hope you will kindly do so at once, we cannot help feeling very anxious about him & altho’ newspapers reports are not to be trusted there may be some truth in the one we heard of his being alarming ill.

We shall be very glad of a line from you at all events. –

I hope you are all well at home and that your Garden has not suffered by the late frosts, the damage done has been very different in different parts of our Garden many things being quite black in the South part which have escaped a pinch even on the Western side of the house! one night’s frost. –

Mamma is as usual very busy preparing for the coming winter & we shall go to Margam in a short time I daresay. – I had a very tolerable account of dear Jane the last time Lucy wrote, she said her Mother had started for Naples they were to take two days from Albano & so hoped she would not be overfatigued as the road is good. the rest of the family except Mr Nicholl & one of the Girls, were to go back to Rome the end of this month & settle themselves for the winter. –

With our kind love to all cousins – I am your affate coz Mary
