My dear Henry
I do not know if they have a Post Office and Mail Cart on board the Gt Eastern but I should think a letter to no 3 Cavendish Square more likely to find its way to Chrisr than any other direction –
Zauschneria Californian is a very troublesome plant it runs about & tho’ very pretty is very untidy we have had it for years, & I never saw it in seed! Jane has got a Lagerstroemia rosea in flower in the hot house & they have it at Penllergaer too this year it is very pretty I had seen the Purple one at Abby but this pink one is new to me
Mr Octavius Morgan has a Catalpa in flower he raised from seed from Italy. Charlotte says it is a fine tree 30 years old! – How fond you must be of your trees I hope they have ample room to grow in & are not likely to be injured by their neighbours – I suppose you are alone at Lacock as you say nothing about any of your family, only your vegetable treasures? How much longer do they stay in the North? –
I hope you will have a pleasant trip if you go on the Continent, but I fear our charming weather will not last much longer I intend returning into Glamorganshire in a few days. I must take Annie Franklen home & then I shall most probably go to Margam for a short time
Charlotte sends her love
I am your affecte
Coz Mary
