My dear Henry
Charry wishes me to enclose a specimen of a very pretty Epimedium growing in her Garden she thinks it is the rosea it is very bright & pretty & seems as hardy as the others – Have you the Triteleia uniflora? I saw a bunch growing in Isabella’s garden & looking so pretty the other day, it has had no protection during the Winter so it must be hardy. – The weather is milder now & we had some rain in the night which they say was much wanted, they will be able to mow the turf better no doubt but I do not think it appears to have penetrated the soil at all. –
My poor niece Susan Franklen is much worse than when I saw her before her cough & shortness of breath are distressing at times, she was much pleased with some flowers I carried her from the Greenhouse here & admired the flower of your Cantua which I sent to her. Her Sisters have been busy in the Garden, it is very gay with Spring flowers & I hope they have affectually [sic] kept out the rabbits now there are not many Pheasants left there I fancy as they do not come into their Garden Isabella herself takes a great interest in the flowers and works daily in her Garden seldom going beyond it now except on Sunday to Church. –
Pray give my love to my Cousins –
I am your affecte
