My dear Henry

Hearing you are really thinking of Glamorganshire once more I must recommend to your notice a very pretty place on the Sea Shore it is called Porthmerry and possesses some of the perfections you require it is about 7 or 8 miles from Cardiff I should think close to Barry Island, it is really a lovely retired spot, and Mr Romilly <1> built a house there a few years ago which I have never seen but Charlotte <2> has been to visit there and says it is a nice house but not a pretty one. I only guess that Mr R. would let it, because he is in some Office now & I hear he cannot spend more than two months out of London if that is the case his house must now be quite useless I should think. Charlotte can give you some account of it if you like & I daresay you could meet with some friend who could ask Mr Romilly if he meant to let it, there are many other houses to be let but none in a more beautiful spot I really believe. –

Henry Fox Talbot Esqre
65 Harley Street

Notes:

1. Probably John Romilly, 1st Lord Romilly of Barry (1802–1874), son of Sir Samuel Romilly.

2. Charlotte Louisa 'Charry' Traherne, née Talbot (1800–1880), WHFT’s cousin. [See Doc. No: 03517].
