My dear Henry
The Peony from the Steep Holmes has been flowering well this year and the seed pods now look very pretty one has been broken off & I thought you might like to have some of the seed, so I send it, we opened one pod before it was quite ready & were surprised to find the seeds red but as they ripened they began to get darker & darker & only the unfruitful ones, if I may call them so, remained red, the variety is very pretty & I keep the pod for an ornament!
We have been at Margam for a couple of days Horatia walked to the top of the wood & enjoyed it very much, the day was a very fine one & there was plenty of air. the Childn were delighted to accompany us –
Thoedore is quite well again & the little girls all looking remarkably well I think.
Mamma is tolerably well we have got Miss St George staying with us now she is a most kind and cheerful companion she came from Dublin to Bristol by water which I think a tremendous sea voyage! but I believe she intends returning the same way, Mr Harris her Brother in law came with her but returned home after staying a week with us. – Jane & Mr Nicholl are just gone up to Town (John is with his Sisters at Margam & the youngest boy also) they took three boys to school. –
Harry Franklen is come home on account of his health he could not stand the heat of Borneo but is much better for his voyage home, I hear. –
Pray give my love to Mrs Talbot & the Childn
I am your affate coz
Mary
