My dear Papa,

I forward this letter just arrived, but do not venture to add more than a scrap for fear of making it over weight. We have settled no plans yet. We shouldn’t gain much by moving, before Mama <1> gets stronger. She is beginning to enjoy being out rather longer at a time. It is much cooler these two days with plenty of air. Tilly <2> writes from London with the therm 92,<3> and yet they go about visiting, dining & to the Opera like anything!

Your affct. daughter
Rosamond.

Notes:

1. Constance Talbot, née Mundy (1811–1880), WHFT’s wife.

2. Matilda Caroline Gilchrist-Clark, ‘Tilly’, née Talbot (1839–1927), WHFT’s 3rd daughter.

3. 92 degrees Fahrenheit, ie, 33 Celcius.
