M. Gay,

au palais du Luxembourg <1>

Translation:

Mr Gay came to have the honour of seeing Mr Talbot & to thank him for the package that he was so kind as to send him yesterday.

Mr Talbot is generously offering him one of the fine plants that he has recently gathered in the South of France. He could not refuse such a kind offer. He will wait, therefore, until Mr Talbot would care to make a rendezvous with him for this purpose. He will go to meet him eagerly, desiring fervently to become acquainted with such an enthusiastic and learned naturalist.

Mr Gay,

at the Luxembourg Palace
