My dear Henry

Caroline Mt Edgcumbe is gone to Merthyrmawr to return home with Jane on Friday & I think she has perhaps sent you an account of Bertha’s wedding which was on the 25th – the Camtrain report was exhausted – so many people sent for it, so they have reprinted it with a long list of the presents which looked vy pretty spread out on the tables in the end of the library – we were 50 at luncheon & there was to be no speeches as Bertha & Mr Fletcher were to be off by train from Pyle station at 3 o’clock so Kit made a vy comprehensive address including thanks to the relations who had come so many hundred miles to be present, compliments to the 8 charming brides maids & health & prosperity to the happy couple besides a ‘sigh’ over those left behind now how he said all this I have vainly endeavoured to remember, & I give you the soul instead of the body of his address – Mr Fletcher returned thanks & then we all drank their healths – but I have misplaced these two parts – after they the marie’s were gone, most of the party walked to the top of the wood – some went to the greenhouse to decorate it for the tenants dance in the evening – I went back to Merthyrmawr – We thought Lady C & Miss Fletcher vy pleasant people & were all sorry their stay was so short – they went on Saturday to Pusey with Mr & Mrs Frank Fletcher – Bertha & Mr F are at Saltour – she thinks it a vy charming place – we had the Harvest Thanksgiving to day – the new organ here is excellent & the singing was vy good – Emily & Olive had the schoolchildren to tea this afternoon & they have been playing in the park with great glee – I hope you will come this way next time but one your move

Yr vy affly
Charlotte L Traherne
