My dear Henry
I am glad to hear from you though sorry you did not spend some of your winter with us instead of at Lacock – now you are gone out of the circle which one would hope to make you feel the influence of – Poor Theodore’s arm is very useless hitherto since he broke it – he has no strength at all in <it> though he can move it about, so he cannot shoot or ride – he was at Margam when I was there but now they are gone to Penrice I think he has returned to Ledbury.
I shall send your letter to Jane to see about the seeds which you tell me of – The things from New Zealand are rather uncertain as to hardyness <sic> a number of plants which were grown at Porth Kerry from seed in an open part of the wood & which I saw there a couple of years ago looking very well & growing up into trees are all dead now & dead before this winter which is cold enough to try every thing – I hope Rosamond will join our sketching club – <shall?> I propose her – the subscription is 10/ per ann – I had a postcard today with the subjects for the year – our next drawing is due in April & is to be a landscape, subject ‘what you please’ the next due in July – ‘a summer sunset’ I should like to see her italian <sic> sketches very much indeed – love to all your folk –
Your affe cousin
